Community Guidelines

Welcome to the Opingo community!

We want to bring together through the power of curiosity. Did you ever wonder if you’re the only one who sees greatness in your favorite player? Does everyone else think the same thing you do about your stock picks? Want to show people some prototypes of an art project you’re working on? Opingo’s got you. We want to know what the world thinks about what you want to know.
To meet the collective goals of our community, it’s important that all members feel safe and supported. To help everyone have the best possible experience, please take a look at our community guidelines.
We created the Community Guidelines so you can help us foster and protect this amazing community. By using Opingo, you agree to these guidelines and our Terms of Use. We’re committed to these guidelines and we hope you are too. Overstepping these boundaries may result in deleted content, disabled accounts, or other restrictions.
In some cases, we allow content for public awareness which would otherwise go against our Community Guidelines – if it is newsworthy and in the public interest.
Share only photos and videos that you’ve taken or have the right to share.
We want you to represent yourself on Opingo. Remember to post authentic content, and don’t post anything you’ve copied or collected from the Internet that you don’t have the right to post.

Post photos and videos that are appropriate for a diverse audience

We know that there are times when people might want to share content that is artistic or creative in nature, but for a variety of reasons, we don’t allow nudity on Opingo. This includes photos, videos, and some digitally-created content that show sexual intercourse, genitals, and close-ups of fully-nude buttocks. Use your best judgment when considering posting content related to health related conditions and birth/breastfeeding moments. Nudity in photos of paintings and sculptures may be allowed but we will review all content our community reports for review. People like to share photos or videos of their children. For safety reasons, there are times when we may remove images that show nude or partially-nude children. Even when this content is shared with good intentions, it could be used by others in unanticipated ways.

Respect the community and help us grow the right way

Help us stay a great place to be by not artificially collecting votes, followers, comments or content that targets others or repeatedly contact people for commercial purposes without their consent. Don’t offer money or giveaways of money in exchange for likes, followers, comments or other engagement. Don’t post content that engages in, promotes, encourages, facilitates, or admits to fake and misleading user reviews or ratings. You don’t have to use your real name on Opingo, but we do require Opingo users to provide us with accurate and up-to-date information. Don't impersonate others and don't create accounts for the purpose of violating our guidelines or misleading others.

Have some perspective

Acknowledge that people have different opinions. We built this very community to encourage dialogue and conversation around everyone’s opinion, not just your’s. But please respect the fact that opinions are just that - they are not fact - and that people who respond to your questions may not agree with your choices, opinions, attitudes, actions, intent or lifestyle. We hope that people will use this platform for thoughtful and provocative dialogue and will take any action needed to remedy harassment, persecution or targeted violence, in app or offline. You will not agree with everyone 100% of the time. Whether you are asking questions or answering them, seek to understand their opinions and respond to them as you would hope they would respond to you, with civility, candor and kindness.

Don’t break the law

Opingo is not a place to support or praise terrorism, organized crime, or hate groups. Offering sexual services, facilitating the buying or selling firearms, alcohol, and tobacco products between private individuals, and buying or selling non-medical or pharmaceutical drugs are also not allowed. We also remove content that attempts to trade, co-ordinate the trade of, donate, gift, or ask for anything illegal or explicit, as well as content that coordinates or promotes illegal activity.
We believe that freedom is built on being able to express your opinion, not enforcing your opinion on others. We ask that you not use the platform to encourage the commission, admission or agreement to commit illegal, illicit or otherwise prohibited actions, the disregard of any laws or regulations or the coordination of any illegal activities.

Respect others, including non-members of the Opingo community

We want to foster a positive, diverse community. We remove content that contains credible threats or hate speech, content that targets private individuals to degrade or shame them, personal information meant to blackmail or harass someone, and repeated unwanted messages. We may allow stronger conversation around people who are featured in the news or have a large public audience due to their profession or chosen activities, however, it is never OK to encourage violence or attack anyone based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, disabilities, or diseases. Serious threats of harm to the public and personal safety aren't allowed. This includes specific threats of physical harm as well as threats of theft, vandalism, and other financial harm. We carefully review reports of threats and consider many things when determining whether a threat is credible. This includes any individuals on and off our platform.

Be Kind

Don’t be mean to other people. Use our platform to be curious and ask questions you want to know the answers to. Don’t ask questions that are critical of others in order to encourage/condone harassment or violence towards them. This includes public figures and private individuals as well as businesses and corporations. Refrain from asking questions intended to mock the choices or actions or appearance of others whose appearance, status, class, race or ability you may not approve of. In short, don’t be a dick. Let us know if you think someone is behaving inappropriately in our community in the app or by emailing whatsup@opingoapp.com.
Maintain our supportive environment by not glorifying self-injury or violence towards others. The Opingo community cares for each other and we hope it will foster conversation and education about difficult issues and burning questions. We encourage our users to seek answers and share content that will raise awareness or support, but encouraging or urging people to embrace self-injury or violence towards others is counter to this environment of support, and we’ll remove it or disable accounts if it’s reported to us. We may also remove content identifying victims or survivors of self-injury if the content targets them for attack or humor.

Be thoughtful when posting your questions

We understand that many people use Opingo to share important and newsworthy content, current events, and sometimes very personal questions. Some of these issues can involve graphic images. Because so many different people and age groups use Opingo, we may remove content featuring intense, graphic violence or imagery to make sure Opingo stays appropriate for everyone. Sharing questions, graphic images or other content for sadistic pleasure or to glorify violence is never allowed.

Help us keep the community strong

Each of us is an important part of the Opingo community. If you see something that you think may violate our guidelines, please help us by using our built-in reporting option and tell us why you are reporting a post. We have a team that reviews these reports and works as quickly as possible to remove content that doesn’t meet our guidelines. When you complete the report, try to provide as much information as possible, such as links, usernames, and descriptions of the content, so we can find and review it quickly. We may remove posts if either the imagery or associated captions violate our guidelines.
You may find content you don’t like but doesn’t violate the Community Guidelines. If that happens, you can unfollow the person who posted it.
Many disputes and misunderstandings can be resolved directly between members of the community. If one of your photos or videos was posted by someone else, you could try commenting on the post and asking the person to take it down. If that doesn’t work, you can report the post or contact us via email. If you believe someone is violating your trademark, you can contact us at whatsup@opingo.com and include as much information as possible for our review.
We may work with law enforcement, including when we believe that there’s risk of physical harm or threat to public safety.
Finally, we reserve the right to take any action we deem necessary to protect the safety, rights and respect of any individual or group of users including our employees, partners and investors. We accept all kinds of questions about our platform through our reporting features and at whatsup@opingoapp.com.
